A partnership between the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning and the Accessibility Resource Center.
What are Digital Accessibility Liaisons (DAL)?
Digital Accessibility Liaisons advocate for and support digital accessibility efforts across campus. This network comprises faculty and staff from various campus units, collectively working to coordinate accessibility efforts, promote accessibility awareness, and advance digital accessibility. The Digital Accessibility Liaisons initiative is a key tool in supporting TCNJ’s compliance with the updated rules in Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Digital Accessibility Liaisons are appointed by their Dean (faculty) or Academic Affairs and Student Affairs (staff). Other interested faculty and staff should complete the Digital Accessibility Liaison Interest Form, and are welcome to attend meetings and participate in the network.
What are the Liaison’s role and responsibilities?
Digital Accessibility Liaisons serve as a point of contact for each school and various staff offices and departments, supported by the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning and Accessibility Resource Center.
Liaison responsibilities include:
- Participate in bi-monthly meetings, including but not limited to:
- Open discussion guided by faculty and staff questions, issues, inquiries, etc.
 - Presentations from CETL and ARC, as well as guest speakers, on accessibility topics.
 - Presentations from liaisons on specific topics of their choice.

 - Engage in ongoing dialogue with other liaison members through written and other forms of communication.
 - Act as a point person for their school or office on issues related to digital accessibility. Liaisons will guide faculty and staff to the correct person or office if the issue needs further support or cannot be handled internally.
 - Communicate digital accessibility standards, help coordinate accessibility efforts, and promote accessibility awareness within their school or office.

What is outside the scope of the Liaisons?
Liaisons will not engage in the following:
- Act as a compliance officer or be responsible for legal oversight of a unit.
 - Determine tools and platforms for procurement to support accessibility efforts, unless required by normal job requirements.
 - Test digital content or tools for access barriers.
